Community Plan

Ideas, suggestions and issues for the Community Plan being prepared by Pentyrch Community Council are coming in fast.
A series of consultations have been held with groups in our villages and there is still an opportunity to add to the lists of suggestions  described in this issue.
A plan document will be prepared by the Community Council for formal consultation with residents and other authorities in the Autumn.
If you have any further suggestions on Planning, Transport, Recreation, Community Life or the Environment please contact your Community Councillors or the Clerk on 029 20891417 or  clerk@pentyrch.cc.

Pentyrch Village Hall Car Park

Pentyrch Village Hall Committee and guests
celebrating the purchase of the car park

The Hall has been fully operational now for over 26 years. However, we have long been worried about the safety of the car park because of its poor condition. Also the vast majority of it belonged to a holding company with no interest in the village. Over the years we have tried to buy or lease the land. Always this has proved impossible - until now.
The trustees of the Village Hall are very pleased to announce that the whole of the land used as a car park now belongs to the village. It will be incorporated into the trusteeship of the Community Council.

We would like to thank all those who have made this possible. The Jane Hodge Trust, Pentyrch Open Gardens, Community Council all have given money towards the purchase. Steve Gibbon and Tony Young (Solicitor) have given time and effort to the project.
Next on the agenda is the improvement of the car park - but first we need to start raising money again! Many thanks to all those who made this possible.

GOODBYE

Sadly we will be saying goodbye to the Rev Graham Holcombe in July 2002 when he takes up a new post as the Canon at Llandaff.
He came to Pentyrch sixteen years ago and at once involved everyone in the village in collection money to refurbish St Catwg's Church, the end result being well worth the effort.
He became well known and liked throughout the Parish as he took part in many of the local activities, working hard to bring the three churches together, as well as his ecumenical service at Horeb for Remembrance Sunday.
The latest venture embarked on by St Catwg's has been to make tapestry seat cushions for the church encouraged by the Vicar, these will be dedicated before he leaves.
His love of music and encouragement to others to join in with concerts in the Church and his continued hard work for the Parish will ensure we remember him for a long time.              PARISHIONER
